A wind mitigation inspection is an assessment of certain parts of the house to check for wind
and debris resistance. These inspections are usually conducted at the time of purchasing the
house, after new roofing material installed, impact protection installed, After building is
completed or your insurance company may request. If you have an older house, some of these items may not have been required at the time it was built. Again the inspection is not a pass - fail inspection, it is just to find items that may count as deductions on your policy.
Wind Mitigation in the state of Florida is designed to help protect homes from storm damage. Over the years the Florida Building code has changed to help newer homes better resist wind and debris damage. If you have an older home a lot of these upgrades could be added to your house and/or some may need already been added, to help reduce your wind policy. These inspections are not a pass or fail type inspection. They are just an assessment of what is currently in place.
